Nancy Slater (Zaugg)

Nancy Slater Zaugg passed away at home in Hooper, Utah, on November 12, 2021 after her battle with Alzheimer’s at the age of 77.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Brent LeRoy Zaugg, of 55 years, son’s Scott and Jeffrey, and daughter’s Lisa and Debbie Zaugg. She also leaves behind her sister, Lynda Stark, and 4 grandchildren.

Nancy was born on April 8, 1944 in Roy, Utah, to parents W. Everett and Erma Slater who precede her in death along with her brother Val Slater. She graduated from Weber High School and Weber State University and married Brent Zaugg on June 17, 1966. Nancy taught the 4th grade at Lake View Elementary School for several years before she became a stay-at-home mom and later a devoted partner to her husband in his work at RCS, Advanced Garage Doors, and farming, not necessarily in that order.

Nancy started playing the organ in church when she was 14 years old and since that time has accompanied on the piano for a number of stake plays, roadshows, and choirs. She cherished the time she spent playing the organ for the various wards of which she was a part in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Brent and Nancy served in the Toronto, Canada West mission from 2001-2003, and they later served in the Ogden Temple. She loved her pets and enjoyed gardening and spending time with her husband in his farming endeavors. She will be remembered by her family for her testimony of the gospel, quick wit, and love of reading, music, and chocolate.
