Earl Henstra

Earl Henstra

Earl Dean Henstra spent his last months in Utah with his eldest son and family. He slipped quietly away on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, briefly after a lung cancer diagnosis.

Earl was born August 23, 1944, in Ogden, Utah to Robert James Henstra and Maxine Baldwin. He graduated from Weber High School in May 1962 and joined the army, where he served until April 1968. While serving in Germany, he met Ellen Elizabeth Lutz. They were married in 1967 and moved to Augusta, GA before coming back to Ogden. They had three children and later moved to Sacramento, California to get his sons away from “those Mormon girls”. Earl and Ellen later divorced and he married Valita Lynn Frazier, his sweetheart.

Earl loved fishing, hunting ducks, playing cards, bragging about his grandkids, and telling stories. He loved to get you riled up over any topic and bait you until you got mad and then he’d laugh. He loved his Citrus Heights neighborhood parties and all of the friends he made there.

Earl was survived by 2 siblings: Brian Henstra (Jane) and Cindy Knox, his children: Robert Henstra (Colleen), Michael Henstra, Michael Frazier, and Rachel Blackburn, 15 favorite grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
