Karen Elaine Dawson Duncombe, of Sunset, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family, March 22, 2021, at the age of 76 after a long battle with Lewy Body disease.
She was born April 21, 1944 in Ogden, Utah. She is the daughter of Wilbert Dawson and Helen Patterson Dawson. She was the second of six children.
She was married & sealed to her eternal companion Donald William Duncombe in the Salt Lake Temple, who died in August 2014. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings.
She enjoyed reading, traveling, crossword puzzles, chocolate and the companionship of her dog Missy, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family. The little children always brought the biggest smile to her face. Many of her grandchildren and great grandchildren called her Grandma gum because she always had a piece of gum just for them.
While raising 5 children, she completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education. She was a devoted 1st grade teacher for over 30 years spending most of her time at Edison Elementary in North Ogden. She was adored by her students and fellow teachers.
She is survived by her children, Kevin (Diane) Hamilton, Kathy (Wayne) Gittins, Kerri Hollingsworth, Kelly (Chad) Ballard, Kent (Angie) Duncombe; Stepchildren, Ymana Johnson, Donnie Sharp, Earl (Terri) Duncombe, Raydeen (Jack) Jaques, Cerya (JayDell) Jaques, Michael (Melanie) Duncombe; many Grandchildren; Great-grandchildren and Great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Don; her brother Larry; her parents; two stepsons LeRoy and Bill; one Grandson Monte.
