Joan Vanderwoude (Anderson)

Joan Anderson, 78, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2022.

She was born December 12, 1943 in North Ogden, Utah to William H. VanderWoude and Florence Brown.

On April 5, 1963, Joan married her lifetime love, James Richard Anderson in Elko, Nevada.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Joan enjoyed reading and was an amazing cook! Camping and riding motorcycles were always a family favorite through the years. Joan was an incredible example of how to run and maintain a household, how to treat people and age with grace. She loved being retired and staying home. She found joy through her daily routines, keeping up the house, the never-ending redecoration for the seasons and holidays, planning meals, and mowing the back pasture. She enjoyed going outside each day to spend time in the sun. Joan loved to spend time with her grand and great-grandkids. She would sit outside in her chair as she watched and interacted with them. She’s cheered many a child learning to ride a motorcycle and dodged many a squirt gun!

Joan is survived by her son, Jeff (Teri) Anderson, three grandchildren: Jaqualynn. Jaden, and Chandler; great-grandkids: Nash, Emit, and Mila. Joan inherited an additional seven grandkids and 20 great-grandkids (at last count), whom loved her well. Joan was called “Granny” by countless others. Joan is also survived by one brother, Ron (Carol) VanderWoude.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, grandson, Josh, and one brother, Kent.
