Monty Fowers

Monty Fowers

Austin “Monty” Fowers passed away peacefully in his sleep Sunday, December 5, 2021.  He was born June 21, 1944 to Austin E. Fowers and Odessa Wardle.  He was raised in Marriot-Slaterville and attended Weber High School and Weber State College.  He married Leah Oman, they were later divorced.

Monty worked construction most of his life traveling to different states building stores in malls, and with the Bank of Utah doing repairs.

His joys in life were his children, gardening and working in his wood shop, where he created many beautiful things.  In the spring he was always outside getting his garden ready for planting, and searching various greenhouses to find unique or different flowers to plant in his yard.  His garden was always full of many different vegetables.  When fall came and the garden was finished you would find him in his wood shop, working on his different projects from building furniture, stools for his grandchildren or working on his wood carvings.

His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy.  He was always wanting to know how each and every one of them were doing and was so proud of all of their many accomplishments.

In March of 2021 he moved to “Our House Assisted Living of Ogden” where he stayed until his death.  He made many new friends there and enjoyed the activities and day trips they had.

Monty is survived by his 2 children Shelly “Pete” (Ty) Holmes and Brook L. Fowers, sisters; Gaylene Devries and Renee (George) Stewart, brother Rodney Fowers, 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents and grandson Dalton Lamont Fowers.
