In Memory

Sheryl Stevens (Rawson)

Sheryl Rawson, 79, returned to her Heavenly home on Sunday, December 17, 2023.

She was born to Glen and Rhea Stevens on December, 26th 1943 in Nampa Idaho, four minutes before her sister Carole.  One of her favorite stories to tell was that she and Carole were so small as newborns, they fit inside shoe boxes and were kept warm in front of the coal stove at her grandmother’s house. She spent her early years in Nampa Idaho, Devils Slide, Morgan, and the place where her family ultimately settled, Roy, Utah. She loved music from the time she was a small child and that love grew throughout her life. Her favorite childhood memories were listening to her Nanny’s stories, quilting with her family and putting on little plays with her siblings.  She had many friends growing up but her best friends were her sisters “because they are just like me!” Sheryl loved her siblings dearly and claims that they never fought, “we just had a great time together!” She was a faithful member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many callings throughout her life.  She cherished her testimony of her Savior.

She married Hal Seifert in September 1961. They later divorced. They were blessed with three children: Karen, Paul and Tom. Her children were her greatest joy. She treasured them. She said of motherhood, “I fell instinctively into motherhood.  It gave me purpose” When her children were young, she spent her time caring for them at home while working on the dairy farm where she and Hal lived in Syracuse. She later worked as a banker, a job she held until retirement.

It was in Syracuse that Sheryl became a grandma. Being a grandma to her eight grandkids was a true joy to her.  She loved her grandkids and always planned fun parties and outings with them.  They loved spending time with her and hearing her (sometimes crazy) stories. It was always a treat to spend time with Grandma Seif!

She married Roger Rawson on November 3, 1998 and they were later sealed in the Washington, DC Temple.  They served in the Ogden Temple for many years and traveled the world together.

Sheryl was very organized and had a place, and a post-it note, for everything.  Her home was always tidy, warm, and welcoming. She played the piano beautifully and enjoyed listening to classical music. She also enjoyed watching movies and reading all kinds of books. She loved gardening and always had the most beautiful flower beds. She cherished her time spent with friends and family, especially her children, grandchildren, and sisters.

She was the epitome of grace and elegance. Her hair was always neat, her beautiful clothes freshly pressed and her makeup perfect.  She carried herself with great poise and dignity. She always looked and smelled lovely. We will never forget her perseverance and determination and will forever miss her wit, laughter, grace, and love.

She is survived by her sisters, Julie, Susan and Radell, her children, Paul Seifert and Karen Seifert, her eight grandchildren Leslie, Meghan,Whitney, Sammie, Hayden, Brooke, Jamie and Jackie and her twelve great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son Tom, her sweet parents, her husband, her brother Bob and dear sister Carole and her great-grandson, Max. We feel peace knowing she has been reunited with the people she loved.
